A: The location of the Shelter is confidential to ensure the safety of our clients and staff. Visitors and volunteers sign a confidentiality agreement, agreeing not to disclose the location of the shelter during and after their service.

A: No, our services are always free to our clients.

A: We have a legal advocacy program to help clients navigate the legal system. The advocate is not an attorney, but can help with issues such as getting a protective order, Crime Victims Compensation and referrals to resources for assistance with divorce, child custody, and immigration issues.

A: No. If you have a safe place to stay you may still receive help through our nonresidential program

A: We provide services to clients in Gonzales, Guadalupe, Karnes, and Wilson counties. However, survivors who live outside these areas are not turned away if they contact us for help.

A: The average stay is 14-30 days. However, each survivor has a unique situation. Once a survivor leaves the Shelter, they may still receive services through the nonresidential program for as long as they need.

A: Adult males are eligible for our full range of residential and nonresidential services.

A: We can provide shelter for up to 6 women and 20 children.

A: We receive funds from a variety of sources: Texas Health and Human Services Commission, Office of the Attorney General of Texas, Office of the Governor of Texas – Criminal Justice Division, Guadalupe County United Way, and other grant programs. All profits from the Cranny thrift store come back to the shelter for direct services. We also receive donations from area businesses and caring people in the community.

A: Yes, we can offer presentations for schools, churches, businesses, clubs, or any group in the community who wants to learn more about domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, bullying, and more.
